A visual symbol of Indian freedom struggle generally refers to varieties of coarse cotton cloth hand woven using hand spun yarn. In post-Independence era, due to industrialization & other market forces Khadi has lost its mass appeal. But recent demand in providing an alternative vision for modernity & design has encouraged the designers & fashion houses to experiment & promote Khadi.

In Bangladesh, Khadi existed since 19th Century. Comilla, a central district-150 km from the capital Dhaka, is well known home & abroad as the home of Bangladeshi ‘Khadi’. Comilla Khadi holds distinctive edge with modern design, texture & color that are suitable for contemporary style of clothing.

My research work was concentrated on manufacturing, marketing process, and worker?s live hood of “Bangladeshi Traditional Costume ? Khaddar”.
